Andrew Lloyd Webber
Andrew Lloyd Webber was born March 22,1948 in London,England. From early
childhood, Lloyd Webber had been a very great lover of music, staging his first
"musicals" in a dollhouse-like theatre at the age of 13.
In his late teens he met Tim Rice,an aspiring young lyricist, and they soon became partners.
Together they produced "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat", "Jesus Christ Superstar", and "Evita". In 1981, Lloyd Webber went without
Rice, and with other collaborators, produced "Cats"(during which he met his second wife,Sarah Brightman.)
"Starlight Express", the setting for the latin requiem mass "Requiem", "Song and Dance"
{Made of his earlier works"Variations, and "Tell Me on a Sunday".) "The Phantom of the Opera", "Aspects of Love",
"Sunset Boulevard", "Whistle down the Wind",and "By Jeeves",a re-working of his disasterous musical "Jeeves".
He has won six Antoinette Perry(Tony) Awards,four Drama Desk Awards,
three Grammys,and five Laurence Olivier Awards. His musical "Cats"is the
longest-running musical of all time.
